Much faster! FireFox takes up to 15-20 seconds to load on my machine. Chrome is loaded and ready to go with 5 seconds.
Surfing is also much faster. Especially when Javascript is involved:

Plugin support is coming in Chrome 2. It will be up to 3rd party developers to create them, but the support will be there.

Separate tab processes is actually one of the biggest selling points of Chrome. At first this also turned me off, but after watching my Task Manager closely, comparatively speaking it's still more efficient than other browsers.
Plus if one of the tabs happens to crash, you only lose that particular tab. The rest remain in tact.
