I don't think it will matter much in searches if they hyphen the name or not. Your site should come up. I get variances of my domain typed in all the time in searches:
la-minerals, L.A.minerals, LA mineral makeup, etc etc....and they find me, and my url is
www.laminerals.com (not french though. It's actually L.A. Minerals)
So, I'd go with whichever you want. If .net is a good price and the .com is taken or for sale for a zillion dollars, get the .net. Won't matter at all. Just my humble opinion.
