The price difference between shared and dedicated is too much. When I opened my site I went with a shared package. When I outgrew that package, the host only offered a dedicated package for over $100 a month. Well, the shared was only $15. the site was not making enough money to support over $100 a month server bill. so I had to go with a VPS package and another host.

Now I have a VPS with over 800 megs of memory and am about to have to upgrade again.

Going through the VPS levels has allowed my site to grow, without putting a financial strain on my family. Instead of jumping straight from $15 a month to over $100 a month, I went from $15, to $30, $45 and now at $65 a month.

Now that the sites are self supportive, I feel that I am finally ready for an entry level dedicated server.
