I've never used Swish before so I couldn't say if it would work or not but I find it hard to beleive that the Flash proprietary .fla file format could be opened in Swish. So using Swish, wouldn't work. But like I said, I've never used it so I don't know.

Ultimately, the OP has a fla file that can not be edited in anything other than Flash, so still, the answer is "No. There are no free flash editors that will enable you to make fully functional changes to a Flash template (fla). etc etc..."
