I think that if you design a website that is standards compliant and works in Mozilla Firefox, then it really doesn't take much to get it working just fine in Google Chrome. It's much more of a challenge to get the site working in Microsoft Internet Explorer. So, I think there is no real harm in checking your site in Chrome, because it's going to be rather easy to fix. And as mentioned above, because it is based on the same thing as Safari, your site is also going to work well in Safari.
