Personally I use Vim - you get nice syntax highlighting and loads of keyboard shortcuts. It's often said that Vim is a tool, its use must be learned. Don't expect to be able to jump straight in and use Vim without first learning how to use it. However, once you have invested the initial time in learning it, you'll find you can do things a lot quicker than you can in any other text editor. If you're running Windows, try gVim.
