It really depends on your taste
You should blog for a specific topic/niche where you're really interested at. Because it's very hard to write articles about a topic you're not really interested in even if that topic can drive loads of traffic.
Most blog topic/niche that's popular on the net are about
: celebrities (gossip, scandals), games (online, rpg, ps, box, wii, etc.), technology/gadgets (what's the latests), home-based make money online, news, politics, music, movies, sports, travel, personal/lifestyle, and even adult xxx.

So if you're going to make a blog, be sure that you're going to choose the topic/niche that you like. If you don't, you might not be able to update it regularly or even make it rank in search engines.
