Personally in my situation, I live in the boonies, as such I do not have access to DSL or Cable, so I have Satellite(Hughes Net) and it sucked big donkeys as far as the Fair access policy but compared to dial up as long as you had a good install it is a decent system. I personally now use Alltel(now Verizon) air card with an unlimited up/down account and get a very decent speed and response, customer service is also as adequate as can be expected.

I have the air card connected to a Cradlepoint wireless router using this as my main access for our house and have left the satellite in place for my in-laws to use which is hooked to another wireless router, and for us to use as a back up source in the event that it is needed. I pay $55 a month for the air card and $75 for the Satellite. Been considering moving closer to the town or city lots cheaper in the long run I think :-))
