Just to add to this don't expect 00ber ROI even when you're dealing with a seemingly competent and legitimate host; paying more does not always equate to more value either.

The best thing you can do is dedicate some time to sniffing around, then quantifying hosts, then narrowing the list down and finally shopping between the finalists.

Don't be afraid to log a support ticket with each hosting company you're interested in either as their response can usually give you a good indication of how helpful and how timely their response system is.

Lastly, put all your needs into whatever ticket you submit as that will put everyone on the same page. I once had a host that was so poor at service they had the audacity to blame me for their lack of service.
