But the project I am just starting to look at will initally run solely of ad revenue.

So the question is how do I work out how many visitors I need in order to make x amount of money.

I can weigh up against the running costs of the site to see whether or not it is worth going after.

Thanks, Richard
Answer depends on so many things. Like, what is the CTR or the conversion rate? How targeted is the traffic you are getting? Niche and etc

Some sites have good CTR, so they make good money with less targeted traffic where a site like a forum, will make less money with the same amount of traffic as forums have low CTR.

Make sure your site have ok CTR and try to improve your ranking in SERPs. Traffic from SEs is the best traffic that you can get.
