On the topic. I would personally only register 1 domain name. I've worked with several companies that have registered all the .whatever(s) for their domain name and it was a waste of time and money.

Another thing to consider is that the SE may penalize you for duplicate content if you are pointing all your domain names to the same site. I may be wrong on this but I remember reading this somewhere.
