John, we looked at the category structure of many different directories in developing the BlueFind category structure. A lot of our categories are heavily (and I do mean
heavily) inspired by Yahoo.
It's been a while since we created the categories you refer to, but if they are similar to DMOZ, then it's probably a good list of popular languages.
If you have a problem with that, sue me.
