Interesting fact is that SEO has nothing to do with Google!

Maybe it was helpful before but now key factor is amount of clicks in desired category and clicks in Google in general.

Proper SEO for a new site will bring it in first hundred in Google, not the first place.

Anyway SEO still works for some other engines, but popularity of Google is overwhelming.
