Cool, I've always wanted to be one, but could never find the time to actually start studying.
This thread though, is for people that don't have our technical knowledge and have problems, its to give them some input on what can be wrong, and what they could do safely to fix it.
John, you need to take a look at the file extensions. What FTP are you using? If you're using Filezilla, take a look at the right hand side, there should be two "blocks", the top one has the folder structure, where the one below it shows the folder content.
Using the top "box" you need to navigate to where the old file is that you want to replace, and drag the new file over, if you left it with the same file name (which is actually recommended), it should overwrite the file leaving you with the new page installed.
