What makes you so sure? Most directories provide quality content, isn't that what a search engines are all about. Why would Google stop "paid directories" and not reciprocal directories, links and resources pages? Why not penalize every site on the net that has an "advertising" section, they all must be selling pagerank? SOMEONE ALERT GOOGLE THEY MUST NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS! OK...... If Google really wanted to "prevent" they would start with Internet Marketers. But guess what? It won't happen as long as sites provide quality content, again that's what the net is all about.
