Personally, I am very wary of affiliate programs and stuff like that.

Not wary, exactly, I just don't like the idea of selling the same stuff that 10,000 other sites have been selling longer than me. I might get in on selling new products through an affiliation like that, but not likely. Again, 10,000 other people, who are well-established, are doing it, too.

Not everybody can, or will, do what I did. I wrote my own script to sell. But, another option is to find good products that aren't being sold through affiliate programs and approach their makers or vendors with an offer. I just did something like that with some software that I bought and used. I was particularly impressed with it and I sent them an email asking if they might be interested in making a deal. Now, mind you, I have the source code. I would need to merely change a few things in the code and rename it and no one would be the wiser. But, I have to live with myself, you know.

If you have no desire to do any of that stuff, try blogging and making topical sites with ads on them. These can do very well and they are passive income. All you do is make a site about dogs or donkeys or race cars or whatever. Write your own original content and put some ads on the page. You would be surprised how many people are doing well like that.

I think there are as many ways to make (and lose) money on the web as there are users - and that's an awful lot of ways.
