Well, now you can find out. Here's my report. The day you posted -- Dec. 19th -- I purchased 100 posts from both Forum Elves & Forum Launch. Both used a Paypal setup where I didn't actually pay at first. I just placed the order and waited for them to contact me. Forum Launch contacted me on Dec. 20th, and I paid them on the same day. Forum Elves never contacted me.

So 10 days went by with no further activity. Finally, on December 31st, my completely dead forum saw a batch of registrations and lots of posting. Here they started a topic about a movie, and replied:

Here they (sarah & fish) replied to a lengthy post:

http://www.reepicheep.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=58

And here they reply to a news item which was posted in the forums:

Overall, it's going so-so. Almost every post is a 1-liner. Some of their posts (especially that last reply by fish) make it appear that English isn't their native language. That's fine. They are starting topics, and they do have some concept of my site's theme (Narnia books/movies). But nothing really substantive.

In the end, I guess I'm glad I hired them, but I'm also glad I only did the 100 posts option. I can't imagine buying 1000 1-line posts.

I've no idea how Forum Elves performs, as they never contacted me.
