Well, since your bumping old posts...
The latest American misadventure will end up biting us in the ass. You can see it happening already.
The only reason all those people are dying is greed. If that's a good reason for war, then I guess it's justified.
What I can't stand is anyone so naive as to believe that we are over in Iraq on some sort of humanitarian mission. The current administration is about as humanitarian as Soviet Russia was "in the good old days" And the current president more closely resembles Stalin than he does any of his American predecessors.
Don't tell me that Iraq just happens to be sitting on 20% of the world's oil and it just happens to be the cheapest oil in the world to get out of the ground. Anyone who tries to sell me on the humanitarian angle is wasting their time. If we were truly humanitarian, we would be in Darfur, not Iraq.
It's a sad state of affairs and I'm sure the Founding Fathers are rolling in their collective graves. This whole war reeks of fascism and greed and old King George, himself, by God. It's terribly sad how it's come full circle and the oppressed has become the oppressor.
It troubles me deeply what my country has become. But, the truth is, it didn't start out that way. America was made by radicals and visionaries who would never have stood for this escapade.
