Colleen makes great points on NOT transferring to the host.

If you feel the need to transfer, do it to another registrar, not to a hosting company. Most, like GoDaddy, will do the transfer at a lower cost than a new registration, but then add on a full year to the expiry.

If you don't want to transfer at all, just follow Colleen's advice and merely change the nameserver information.
