If thats the only motive, dont buy it. You can make that happen yourself pretty easily, especially for someone experienced with working with code, like yourself.
Shut off the archive (it can be made into a sitemap via ADMINCP> vBulletin Options> Search Engine Friendly Archive> Display Simple View of Threads = NO
Add rel=nofollow tags to things like "Show Printable Version: Under Thread Tools and the ShowPost links -- You could also place that tag on things like member profiles, calender, register links, contact us links, etc....
However, I strongly advise against shutting down the archive and placing rel=nofollow tags on the member profiles.
Its my belief that search engines do not penalize a site for this kind of duplicate content. I believe google can recognize the difference between an archive page and a regular page, and simply will index either one or the other.
No penalty there I can see.
Let me ask it this way. Is there a reason you think the "duplicate content" pages are affecting this site?
IMO - the only thing vBSEO really gives you is the mod-rewrite, which will give you some keywords in threads. The archive gives you simple URLs so thats not an issue. People seem to think that the simple urls make some kind of a difference. I dont believe they do.
