Example: A webmaster forum where the visitors are web designers, coders, etc... they will already know what software you use. The only people that I think that really effects are people that want to start their own community after seeing yours (same topic or not) they may not know where to start until they click the powered by link.

That's exactly what I was going to say. Alot of people already recognize the basic file structure/layout of Vbulletin to begin with. No need to remove the "powered by" line unless it looks horrible in your integration, IMO.
