I started my directory about 4 months ago and spend quite some money on it, (ok it maybe a lot of money for me, for some are just peanuts) but I have tried to spend them wisely. My ROI is still negative and I really doubt it that I will make any money for the next three or maybe even six months but I don't really care. Right now I have my investment as real estate (a PR6 directory) and I can cash out by selling but I decided to go for the long run and I believe that in a year or so if I continue working on it I can start making some good money from it.
The average directory takes around two to three years to show any reasonable profit if you’re looking to develop a quality directory that could end up a major directory. Marketing of course is the largest expense and development services not far behind it.
