Without knowing the domain to see its EPP status, your best bet is to peruse the website of Nominet, who handles .co.uk's. Their website is
http://www.nominet.co.uk
I'm not certain what the drop period is. I know with a .com or .net once it enters pending-delete status, it's deleted within 5 calendar days, but it may very well be that the domain you're asking about hasn't hit that queue yet.
