It's an interesting proposition that rankings could be adversely affected by "non-relevant" linkage.

However, the "similar pages" feature has been there for a long time, and I've not seen any argument that it has any bearing on general search rankings.

Of course, that doesn;t mean to say it won't have any future impact.

Personally speaking, I see related-topic links as the future, full stop.

Btw - has SEO Chat been penalised by Google? It's base index PR is only 2.
