I have heard that for "rule of thumb" you should never use the same company for your registrar and your hosting. I don't know why that is ... maybe someone else can comment on that.
Anyway I have been using Godaddy for both domain registrations and hosting and I've never been disappointed. Only $3.99 per month for hosting too ... a very good deal.
