S.Korea is the worlds largest online gaming community, a thing which is a mainstream activity in South Korea, with a gaming market generations ahead of any Western society. Korean servers are highly desired for low ping connections for various online games. 60% of S.Koreans have broadband in their homes. There are over 30 million Internet users, making Korea the 3rd largest Internet community in the world after USA and Germany. At any one time, there are around 4 million Koreans playing games online. High speed low ping servers are in demand. So it's not really an unusual request.
