I believe that hotmail obey the SPF rules set for a domain, and therefore if the domain transfer email was sent "from" some address with SPF, but not from an allowed mailserver according to those rules, hotmail may kindly move it to your junk mail folder.

I don't think even they actually delete the email?

As I said, I'd recommend using some other address that you have full control over - if you have one available.

Out of interest, would you mind sharing which host you're moving to?
