I write articles and submit them to article distribution sites. I include reference to similar articles on my website with a link to those pages.

I also do very personal link requests where I let other webmasters know about content on my site that would be genuinely useful for their visitors and I ask them politely if they would link to it.

Sometimes answering questions on forums or blogs that are related to the content of your site can be a great way of getting deep links. If you can provide a quality answer in your post, then it is natural and appropriate for you to provide a couple of links within your response pointing the reader to additional information on the subject.

Deep links are much easier to get if you've got quality content that other people are interested in.
