Maybe this new Google system that every one is all worked up about might do some good. Although its kinda googles fault for making it the way it is with there PR algorithm..

Nope, it's just buying advertising, the fact that it also works for SERPs is that the webmasters fault or the search engines?
Some sites I have derive 20% of their traffic from forums links. I have also sold some sig links on other forums for $100/year.
If someone can sell a company name written across their breasts, then a sig link is hardly worth the rant.
