How true. There are some companies though that have old-school people who only use the 'web-safe' pallete and will not hire in someone who's resumed sites use any non web-safe' color.
It is also true that a graphic of a non safe color will not display that color either in them archaic browsers.m Furthermore, load times are not going to expand much if you use a 1x1 graphic and tile it a gazillion times.
