True that. Website owners made sites long before google existed, they linked long before google existed and website owners received payments for links long before google existed.

All that google ever did was using an existing netwerk to create a search service, which also existed long before google.

They did create a new phenomena though, millions of worthless made-for-google pages that pollute the net, link spammers and a few other nasty results of their endeavors to monetize their business that ended up to be a nuicance to those who actually use the internet.


It's not all good.
