They did stupid gun/intruder drills at my high school after the Columbine incident. I thought it was lame. They didn't tell us it was a drill either, but they also didn't tell us what was going on...they just told us to hide under our desks and lock the doors. Bastards. Afterwards they told us it was a drill in case anything like Columbine ever happened at our school.

These things really aren't necessary, IMO. There's very little you can do to prepare for such incidents, and they aren't all that common.
