That is a great article John, I have certainly been been hot with some of them pescky ranking penalties recently, what you say about the alt tags makes sense too, I will have to try and make the most of it whilst it lasts.

I also know for a fact that pages with 0 PR can have link value if they come from trusted sites.

Nothingbutnet - Again if the links from pages with no PR value (grey PR bar) are indexed and come from trusted sites they can have link value in my experience, although some people are saying that they may not now, if these people are right then it is a very recent change, I'm talking in the last month (this is just a theory).
