I saved all the good content for my site, rewrote shorter versions of the articles, then submitted to E-Zine Articles, Go Articles and another I can't recall right now and alongside my other link building activity, I started to rank fairly quickly.
As a starting point though, I would submit to a couple (well, 2 or 3) great directories, Y!, JoeAnt and BOTW plus submission to a couple of niche directories.
