Whether or not they should be there depends on the long term objectives. Are those clear? I'm not sure they are. But if the objective is to bring "stability to the region" then who can guarantee that whether we pull out now or ten years from now? That area of the world remains volatile and our presence hasn't done a lot to quiet things down. Sure things will get worse if the non-Iraq supporting forces pull out, but if that's the argument for staying in then we could stay forever. It all comes down to what are the goals of "the mission?"
