Because Blogs rock! and it's addicting.
What I like most about a blog, is it has that,"I can do it my way" kind of feel to it.
If you see a blog by someone that really knows their sh*t, it tends to go into more depth than a corp website, and end up a little more entertaining.
Besides for SEO you can't beat it.
