I just removed my adsense ads. I had a 468x60 up top and a large side banner ad on BigGuide. Over 500 visits a day and I just recently starting bringing in a $1 or so a day.
I have to say I felt like a complete fool each and every time I went through the trouble of logging into google to see what I had made since my last visit.
If my stats and the other's comments above don't convince you to focus on the quality of your directory and the value to site owners/marketers instead of adwords then do what you will. Please report back in a few months.
I was on the fence for a long time and I think I've just been amazed at the technology behind the ads. Thanks for not mincing words guys. I needed a push to give up all that revenue!
Free from google ads at last!
