I often look at the headline and if it looks like something that interests me, I'll start reading the introduction paragraph. If I am still captivated, I'll quickly browse the bullet points and lists to see if I'd like to read the rest. If they pass my test, I'll read the whole article.

Don't use all of your flash in the headline and save the trash for the post. Make sure the title is just enough to grab the readers attention and make them want to read your content.
