I don't have to prove anything, I said they are 20 of the best, not the strongest 20. That is a big difference. In my opinion, for my web site, they are "20 of the best" and that's all that matters. There are ways to distinguish the top directories from the mediocre ones. See which ones carry the infamous "trust" or extra authority links. Go to Google and search for "Web Directories" and see which ones are ranked highly. Check the GB PR of some of the inner pages that you will be listed on. See if the web sites in the category that you are trying to get listed in are top notch sites in your area. Check domain age and see if the descriptions are well written and unique. I could go on and on, but the reality is, it is quite easy to tell which web directories are better than the others. Matter of fact I will list some of my directory listings and I will challenge anybody to tell me that these aren't some of the best in the industry, all I believe, except Yahoo.dir and Starting Point will give you permanent lifetime links:
