Well, IMHO, it is best to have your ISP install the webalizer program:

The Webalizer

directly on your site's server. This is a FREE program so your ISP should be able to install it very easily and very quickly. But, if for some reason, they don't want to, then insist upon it. If they still don't want to, then move your site to a new ISP that will do this for you. The webalizer program is, in my opinion, much more accurate than any remote programs because the webalizer resides on your server. So, therefore, it gets ALL of your traffic. Sure, you can use analytics, statcounter and hitwise et al but remember those programs are all remote connections that can very possibly degrade your site's overall performance and also they all rely on user cookies and/or javascripts to compile traffic data. So they can't count the users that have cookies and/or java disabled in their browsers.

Anyway, after you get the webalizer installed locally right on your server's disk, then have your ISP set the webalizer to show at least 200+ search strings and 700+ total referrers. Just those two settings alone should give you a good amount of very valuable and very highly accurate traffic data about your site. Check it out!
