FYI the way Java Virtual Machine works or doesn't work with Windows is changing.
I have personally had much trouble getting
any Java applets to run on web pages even when I used Internet Explorer, I usually really wanted to see the content so tried harder than the average visiter, but still failed.
We have to install a plug-in to have Java applets work in pages.
This made it work easier in Internet Explorer, so in a sense the situation has improved, and leveled out, as all browsers should have the same experience.
[Firebird is a very young browser with documented trouble installing Java applet plug-ins, but I assume they will sort it out soon!]
As Rick says, I would avoid plug-ins as they often have to be installed, which took me ages to do for your site, and several times the installer appeared to crash and I never thought it completed. (But it must have).
Consult the
Principles thread in the Usability Forum to see under what conditions adding plug-ins is concidered a good idea.
