I just bought a laptop this week and it came pre-loaded with Vista otherwise I wouldn't have bothered for a while. I tried to get an XP machine but struggled to find a decent spec machine shipping with XP.

Anyways, first thing I did was download updates and got hit by 31 updates for nearly 62MB. After this I setup using all software I had running on my last XP machine. The only compatability issue I have had has been with Adobe Acrobat 6 (Adobe state on their site that Acrobat 8 has been tested with Vista, and they have no plans to patch older versions, which sucks).

I am generally pleased with my Vista experience although I did kill the gadgets as I agree that there is no need for two clocks on my desktop. Considering the horror stories I have heard about Vista it gets a tentative two thumbs from me!
