Yes, you can do this for free yourself. It's tedious though. Start with the best and work your way down.

Try this Google search "high pr directories free" - the first few sites you see will list directories and their page rank.

Make a database or spread sheet. Enter the directories in one column, and the page rank in the other. Visit a few sites with lists of directories (ignore any paid directories) and enter them into the database until you have around 100.

Sort the data by the page rank - starting with the highest. When you have submitted to one, mark it done. This way, you can pull up the database whenever you have free time and submit to a few directories. By starting with the best, you will get the most value for your time.

* Don't forget - 1. Be concise and clear with your descriptions. Try to be useful not spammy (no sales pitches). 2. Clean your site in advance of submitting. You don't want to submit overly commercial/spammy stuff to the best directories.
