Nothing to comment about the rest, just about the quoted i wanted to let you know that John Chow's August income report was slightly under $18k and the previous months were all $10k + , so the story about making money from blogging is not possible is untrue. But than again, what is making money for you? For someone making $500 a month is money, for someone thats just half of the expenses he plans to invest in another project.

As many mentioned, blogging is a great communication with your customers or readers. If you intend to make a blog just to make money you have already kinda failed, but if you make a blog to communicate with your customers (if you run a online business) or if you blog just to express what and how you feel of a certain niche/topic without thinking about the money you might succeed without even being aware of that.

It is tricky indeed, but it is a pleasure to know that someone is actually reading what you are writing, and even more pleasure when you get your readers to comment on your blog because they really do appreciate what you have wrote.
