I think Steven hit the nail on the head on quite a few points. It appears to me as though Steve is a realist, which is a good trait to have. I am excited when I receive a new comment on one of my articles and I also get excited to see someone else linking to something I wrote. I hope that excitement over simple things such as those never leaves.

As for stats, if I see an article has reached 300 page views due to it being on StumbleUpon, I see it as a small drop of success. I don't engulf myself within my own ego. Instead, I try to review that article and figure out why that one was successful as compared to similar ones I have written, trying to learn so that the next one is equally as successful.
