By that, I mean...
- if you have a board packed with "me too" and "LOL" posts, the kinds of people that will register for a board like that (and post themselves) will be the kinds of people that also post like that. If someone wants to write at length, and have more purposeful discussion, then you won't get them joining.
- and of the course, the reverse is true also.
So........ you basically need to try to lead from the top, and the admin and mods need to post in a manner that they'd be happy for other members to also post.

I want to be friends with this girl, she makes sense.
Mods and admins and mentors (except StrongInTheArm), must lead; we must demonstrate how we want it to be and new members will get the message.
I would also add that those who post pointless posts should be challenged to justify themselves at every instance. That will leave a trail of how it should be and pretty quickly put a stop to the junk posting.
The lobby is a special place and the rules should be a little less restrictive, especially where it concerns StrongInTheArm.
I would advise all members to read the thread thoroughly,
think about what you want to say,
determine if it has already been said and then
if you still think you have something worth adding,
please do so.
Realise we want you to contribute and become active members of the forum. Just think about what it is you are contributing. Give a little more of yourself.
