1. How and why did you get into webdesign?

I was involved in a gaming clan for a Half-Life Mod called Team Fortress Classic. They needed a website so I decided to have a go. I had no idea at the time how to code them so I used Microsoft Publisher 98 to help me. From then on I decided to learn how to design and code web pages properly.

2. What are the good and bad points of the profession in your experience?

I'm a free-lancer so I tend to hate the up-and-down nature of the job. Just recently I didn't have any clients for a whole week and then suddenly got three new clients on the same day. Also because I work from home it's difficult to relax as it's also my workplace as well. Because of this I'm looking for a web design job that gets me out of the house.

Another negative are the clients that think you can still buy a fully designed and working dynamic website for £50. Then you see a full page colour advert of theirs in a local magazine that you know is worth £400 a time. Maybe it's just the area I'm living in but I seem to get more joy from clients further up the country or abroad.

A good point about free-lance in this profession is that I can work when I want. If I work too long into the night I can reward myself by having a lie-in the next morning.
