By the time this things you listed above are popular, they are already dead or dying.

They are old old black hat techniques that have already died.
People still use them because they know nothing else. build quality content - target a group and have information or a product people want. Trying to take advantage of flaw id short lived. The engine gods work to correct them.
Posting links and sigs has the opposite effect you want now. BUT if you have good content it won't hurt as much.

Here's an example forextips.com is a lead collection site. Markettraders.com is the sales site (they also spam (email) using markettraders email addresses. I separated the sites and made sure no links were exchanged between the two. I recently left the company after 6 years. The new morons linked the sites. Forextips lost almost all placement in MSN and Yahoo, google is now dropping it like a rock.
They will start posting more links to try to get it back up, which will only accellerate the downward trend.....

content - content - content - is the only answer - it's hard work so people depend on easy tricks that they hope will work.
