Auctions. I was Recon Manager for the San Diego Auto Auction For 12 years and semi retired 2 years ago. I ran the body & paint, detail and the mechanic shop. The Auction is owned by Cox, along with 130 other Auctions.
My only claim to fame is starting the relationship with Enterprise RAC which the head office laughed at me and said I would not make a dime. Eight months later, they saw that my revenue went from 12 grand a month to 120 grand a month. Now all the Auctions are doing Rental repairs.
I do miss the business and visit dealerships in San Diego and Oceanside once a week. One advantage is, I have not bought a car at retail in 12 years. I bought a 03 IS 300 Lexus 2 years ago that retailed at 30 grand and I paid 19 for it.
I let the business on good terms and hear from them at least once a month to catch up on the gossip. The company has a standing joke at the office saying if they want to know what is going on call me.
Have a great Sunday.
