Hello from our boat on the East Seacoast!!

Hi,

I want to introduce myself. My name is Miriam Grafer and my husband and I live on our boat. We have been living on our boat for the last 2 1/2 years. Right now we are anchored in No Name Harbor on Key Biscayne. For the last year we have been on what is called "The Great Loop Trip". We have a house on Long Island, New York and that is our home base (when we are at home). Anyway we left Long Island June of 2006 to start this trip and took our boat up the Long Island Sound to the Hudson River, planning to go through the Erie Canal. But that was the year that there was tremendous flooding on the Erie Canal, and we were trapped with our boat in between Lock 3 & Lock 4 off of Waterford, New York for 13 days. Since the Erie Canal was partially distroyed we could not go any further so we went down to the Bahamas for the winter using the intercoastal waterway throughout the eastern states.

I am 58 years old, and a retired RN. My husband and I have 7 children - 5 boys and 2 girls - and 7 grandchildren, with #8 on the way.

In my life I have done quite a lot of different things. I was a volunteer firefighter and rescue worker for 8 years. Drove race cars for a couple of races. Scuba diver, also.

Now I make jewelry on my boat. Relax and read a lot of good books. We get to see a lot of places and meet great people.
